Chapter 5

The next morning they got up and started to walk again "do you even know where we are going?"  Alec asked Ivan "not really" "ok so we are just going to wonder around in till we find Aaron?" Levi asked as he walked beside Draco. "No we are going to look for clues to try to pinpoint Aaron's location," Ivan said as he glanced at Alistair to see what he was up to, which was nothing “so you have no clue where we are or where we are going?" Alec said, looking at Ivan in disbelief, “I didn't say I didn't know where we were." Ivan said looking back at him "where are we?" Levi clearly wasn't paying any attention to what we were saying. Ivan gave a low sigh “we are on Ash Cliff near Fair Falls,"  "but isn't Ash Cliff haunted?" Levi said, taking a few steps backward "no Levi it is not haunted" Ivan said grabbing Levi's arm and pulling him forward
   "Why is it ‘haunted’?" Alec asked as he made quotation marks with his hands as he said haunted, trying to keep up with Ivan "it’s believed to be haunted because people were possessed and what they did when they were possessed jump off the cliff, and killing anyone they are with. Sometimes they were pushed off into the fire at the bottom of this cliff and people claimed to have seen their ghost, but that's an old wives tale." Ivan said looking over the edge of the ledge at the bottom. Alec and Levi both looked over the edge to see a fire pit at the very bottom. “I just remembered I'm afraid of heights," Levi said slowly walking away from the edge looking a bit green. "Isn't that dangerous to have a fire down there?" Alec asked Ivan “if it was a normal fire, yes but no that fire never burns out and it never goes out of that pit.”
   “Wow, that’s so cool!” Alec said as he looked over the edge once again till Ivan pulled him back “you still have to be careful it still can kill you if you fall in” Ivan said looking down at it. “Where are Levi and Alistair?” Draco asked, looking around them, “You mean they are gone!” Ivan yelled running up the cliff to see if he could see them anywhere but he couldn’t see them at all. Next thing Ivan knew he hears Levi and Alistair scream from the top of the cliff. Ivan ran to see if they are ok “Levi! Alistair! Are you ok!” Alec yelled as the followed Ivan up the cliff. As they turned a corner Levi ran into them knock them down, then Alistair came around the corner and tripped over them and went rolling down the cliff in till he banged into Draco. Levi put his arm around Ivan and started to scream something about ghost and how they were going to kill him. “Calm down Levi there is no ghost you were just imagining it,” Ivan said patting his back.
   “But there was a ghost!” Levi yelled as he pulled away from Ivan shaking hard “Alistair what did you do?” Ivan asked him “nothing! I saw the ghost too!”  He yelled at Ivan “stop yelling! Let’s go see for our self’s” Alec said, walking up the hill then he stopped short to see if they were following him, but they were not “there is no way in this world, I’m going by myself”  Alec said looking at them and giving them a mad face. “I was just seeing if you were going through with it,” Ivan said, picking up Levi and started to walk towards Alec.
   “NO! I DON’T WANT TO GO! NO PLEASE DON’T MAKE ME GO!” Levi yelled, trying with all his might to get away from Ivan. “Stop moving so much or I’ll drop you in the pit! Draco grabbed Alistair” Ivan yelled back at Levi. “Ok,” Draco said, turning into a human and throwing Alistair over his shoulder and walked towards them “what on earth do you think you’re doing?” Alistair said wiggling from Draco. They walked round the corner and up the hill to find nothing at all “see I told you there was nothing up here” Ivan said, looking around them “but I have seen a ghost here and it said for us to go away and if we didn't it would kill us!" Levi said as he slowly looked around himself making sure there was no ghost around him. “You’re just imaging things” Ivan said, patting Levi’s head “I am not!”
   “But I wasn’t,” Levi said, looking around with fear in his eyes. “Lay off him Ivan, we need to find shelter,” Alec said, looking at the sky which was setting. “That young man isn’t imaging things,” a man said from behind them making Alec jump back. “What do you mean old man,” Ivan said, keeping his hand near his the opening of his back. “Now, now young man, no need to reach for a weapon, I’m just a simple old man that lives on this mountain, “the man said with a smile.”Why should I trust you?" Ivan asked keeping his hand in his bag. The old man held a walking stick with one hand and the other hand stroking his long beard in deep thought. His eyes didn't meet theirs. His eyes were cast down on the ground, then he looked at them with deep red eyes, "I'm an old man, what harm can I cause?" and with that his eyes flashed green causing everyone to jump and stay still "nothing I suppose" Ivan said still staring at the man.  'There is something wrong with this' Alec thought as he stared at all his friends. They all had blank faces showing no emotions "how about you youngsters stay the night at my house at the top of this mountain?" The man asked with a sly smile.
   "That would be nice," Levi said emotionless "do you agree. Ivan?" Levi asked "that sounds fine to me. Draco?" "Sounds fun. What about you Alistair?"  "That sounds good to me. Alec?" Alec knew to play along with them in till he could figure out a plan "that sounds good" Alec said as emotionless as possible. 'We sound like robots' Alec thought to walk with the man. As they walked they came to a fork in the path. One path going up the mountain and the other going to a beautiful forest. The man went up the path that leads up the mountain to a house at the top as they neared it ghost popped out of nowhere crying and yelling ‘we tried to warn you to turn back now you’re going to die’. The house was large with lots of windows and a big oak door with beautiful decorations little fairies and wild animals. “Now I’ll show you to your rooms” the old man said, walking down the hall to a room with a red door with a silver door knob “now Levi dear the is your room” the man said as he opened the door for him “ops one minute dear you can’t have that necklace in there” the man said as he held out his hand for the crystal. Levi took it off and handed it to the man “thank you very much,” he said, pushing Levi in the room and locking the door.
   “Now if you would follow me I’ll show the rest of you to your rooms,” he said, walking up the stairs and to the right door that was painted green with a brass knob “same with all of you no necklaces in the rooms so before you go in hand me your necklaces to me” the old man said holding out his hand for Ivan’s necklace which he handed over without a second thought. “Alistair your turn dear,” the old man said walking up the hall and to the left to an ocean blue door with gold knobs. Alistair took out a green crystal ‘how did I not notice that’ Alec thought with amazement watching him go into the room. “Now come with me, dear Draco,” the man said going to very last door on the right, Draco didn’t have any kind of necklaces on him so it was he just went right on in. After the door was shut the man turn toward Alec "now Alec honey, you can drop the act,” he said with a smile which made Alec freeze in place.  
“You thought you could fool me well you can’t fool me,” he laughed grabbing Alec’s wrist “how did you know?” Alec said trying to pull away from him but to his surprise the old man  grip was like iron “oh well I took all your friends dreams of success and fears away and used them for my own good and making them think they have failed everything and that makes them mindless zombies that do everything that I ask. Your friend Levi’s dreams are to make his family proud of him and his fears aren't of spiders it's Ivan not liking him in return. Ivan’s dream is to be the best vampire slayer in the world and his fears are any of his friends getting killed. Alistair’s dream is to make your uncle proud of him and his fears are letting him down. Draco’s dream is to rid the world of evil humans that only uses dragons for their selfish deeds and his fears is losing you. You, my dear, have no dreams or fears in this world so I can’t use them against you," the man said dragging him back downstairs to a wall.
The man knocked on the wall three times before it opened to a secret room, he pulled Alec with him and tossed him in an empty cell, shutting the door and locking it "now be a good boy and stay here" the man said as he walked off laughing and shutting the wall behind him. Alec wiggled he bars hoping a bar was lose  but none were "great now what" Alec said, sitting against the wall crossing his arms and went in deep thought about what to do "do you have one of those magical necklaces?" a voice said quietly "uh yes? Who's there?"  Alec said, pushing him against the bars as far as he could to find where the voice was coming from "my name is Elizabeth and I have been here for at least a week” Elizabeth said as she came into view in a cell across from him. She was a beautiful young, she had long blonde hair with bright blue eyes “your Alexander Adkins aren’t you?” she asked “um yes I am. How do you know who I am?”  Alec asked “I’m Elizabeth the fairy keeper, I keep all the fairies and I keep them from causing trouble,” she said as she played with her hair looking away from him.
“Your necklace can control spirits you know,” Elizabeth said, looking back to Alec “and you can use magic with it if you know any spells” she added “really? Cool!” Alec said, pulling his necklace out from his shirt “but why did that man take the others necklaces but not mine?” Alec asked “the man’s name is Mabuz he took your friends necklaces because they know spells and if they snap out of their trance they could use spells and he’s not about to take any chances. He once was the ruler of death castle but he was kicked off for killing people that didn’t need to die yet.” She said, before adding “Do you know any spells?” “No I don’t know any,” Alec said fiddling with his necklace “how do you work this necklace?” He asked.
